The Fool's Look Ahead

0 Recommendations

Monday
Big screens come to the big stage when IMAX (Nasdaq: IMAX) kicks off the trading week. Now that the company has financing in place to roll out its fleet of digital projectors in joint-venture deals with the country's leading multiplex exhibitors, IMAX is on the cusp of something special. You won't see it on Monday, however; analysts expect a quarterly loss from the company. However, check out the conference call for a clearer picture of the company's cinematic outlook.

Tuesday
The country's leading video game maker, Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS), steps up on Tuesday. Wall Street expects EA to simply break even; the company's been smarting, since some of the industry's hottest titles, like Guitar Hero III, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and Grand Theft Auto IV were put out by rival studios.

Wednesday
We turn to China on Wednesday, to check in on SINA (Nasdaq: SINA). With most Chinese Web-based stocks coming through with better-than-expected results in recent weeks, there's good reason to be upbeat about SINA's chances. Analysts see profits climbing by 42% to $0.27 a share. Let's see whether SINA can keep the momentum going by making mincemeat out of the profit target.

Thursday
Blockbuster
(NYSE: BBI) hopes to make Thursday a Blockbuster night. Does the company have an update on its proposed purchase of Circuit City (NYSE: CC)? Is a retail emphasis the key to distinguishing itself from mail-order and digital delivery rental specialists? We'll let the company take a crack at those questions.

It you prefer more predictable results, Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) also reports on Thursday. The company has consistently topped expectations in every quarter since Mark Hurd took over as CEO.

Friday
Abercrombie & Fitch
(NYSE: ANF) will make sure you dress well heading into the weekend. Then again, if A&F's clothes are so good, why are its models always being photographed in various states of undress? Oh, these kids today. The pros expect a profit of $0.65 a share from the mall chain, flat with last year's showing. I guess flat growth is what the hipsters are wearing these days.

Until next week, I remain,
Rick Munarriz
